Online shopping has become integrated into the everyday lives of consumers and grocery shopping is now a part of it. Similar to the way packaging and in-store displays attract shoppers to certain products, brands rely on online visuals to draw people to their products. Conagra especially relies on e-commerce platforms, including Amazon, Walmart and Target, to boost their sales and introduce their breadth of products to new consumers.

I have designed assets for multiple Conagra brands including but not limited to ACT II, Reddi-wip, Bird’s Eye, Duncan Hines and Marie Callender’s. While I’ve enjoyed working within the brand identity for each, I felt the BIGS graphics shown below depict the creative possibility within the e-commerce space.

This project is an alphabet book, with illustrations representing the colonization story of a country beginning with each letter. This collection of images work to portray the diverse and all encompassing impact colonization still has on the global community.

In researching, I had the opportunity to delve into the history of each country. One illustration could never fully encapsulate the breadth of history that has led to a country’s current state, but I pulled out aspects that stood out to me and seemed to be pivotal in each overall story. Some of the illustrations are based on the indigenous people that once lived in that area, others feature the cash crops that profited the colonizers or characteristics of the colonizing nation in general.

After the research process, I transitioned to sketching out ideas on paper. Sometimes I would start with the letter and others I would compose the design, later finding an appropriate placement for the letter. I’d then transition the sketch to Photoshop and Illustrator to add in graphic elements, carrying out my ideas for the final visual. The final book layout was designed within InDesign.

My grandfather, Horace Fleming, was a well known football coach and teacher in the Washington D.C. area. He devoted a great portion of his life to the students of Woodrow Wilson High School. Shortly after he passed, my family created a scholarship fund for Wilson’s student-athletes in his honor. I initially participated in a freelance capacity, establishing the wire frame’s for the
fund’s website
.

During the 2020-2021 school year, I acted as interim Vice President of the board and Communications Chair. I worked with the other board members to establish the mission and vision statements for the fund. We worked to develop a voice and tone that would be used to establish consistency throughout the various social accounts. I also created the scholarship fund’s logo and video for that year’s scholarship recipient.

This video, shown at the school’s student-athlete award ceremy, was truly a passion project that shows my growing love for editing and animation. I am grateful for the contribution of my friends, William Lopez, who collaborated with me on the copy, and Jordan Wright, who recorded the voice order so I could avoid the robot voices I found online.
